Connection without judgement

## You do not have to carry everything alone

Many men have learned to cope by staying busy, keeping quiet or trying
to handle everything themselves. That can work for a while. Eventually,
however, the pressure may begin to show through anger, withdrawal,
substance use, relationship conflict, exhaustion or a growing sense of
isolation.

These planned group sessions will offer men an opportunity to meet
others facing similar challenges and speak openly about what is really
happening in their lives.

The aim is not to tell men what they should think or how they should
live. It is to create a respectful space for honest conversation,
self-awareness, practical learning and genuine human connection.

Sometimes the first step towards change is discovering that you are
not the only person struggling with what you are carrying.

What the group may explore

## Real conversations about real life

Group discussions will focus on concerns that commonly affect men,
their relationships and their emotional wellbeing.

01

### Relationships

Communication, intimacy, conflict, trust, separation and the
difficulty of expressing what you need.

02

### Work and pressure

Stress, responsibility, financial pressure, identity, burnout
and the expectation that you should always cope.

03

### Family life

Parenthood, family conflict, changing roles and the challenge
of remaining emotionally available at home.

04

### Anger and conflict

Understanding what sits beneath anger and learning healthier
ways to communicate during difficult moments.

05

### Substance use and recovery

The impact of alcohol, drugs and compulsive behaviours on
identity, relationships, trust and emotional wellbeing.

06

### Mental and emotional health

Loneliness, anxiety, low mood, shame, emotional disconnection
and the need for greater support.

Who these sessions are for

## A group for men ready to engage honestly

You do not need to have the right words or previous experience
with counselling. What matters is a willingness to listen,
reflect and take part in a respectful conversation.

- You feel isolated or disconnected from other people.
- You struggle to speak openly about what is happening.
- Stress or anger is affecting your relationships.
- You are navigating change, loss, separation or recovery.
- You want stronger emotional and communication skills.
- You want to understand yourself more clearly.

### A confidential and respectful environment

The purpose of the group is to create a space where men can
speak without needing to perform, compete or pretend that
everything is fine.

By hearing how other men experience similar pressures,
participants may begin to see their own struggles differently
and discover new ways of responding.

Final participation guidelines and practical arrangements will
be explained before any future group begins.

Potential benefits

## What men may gain from taking part

01

### Less isolation

A stronger sense that you are not facing life’s challenges
entirely on your own.

02

### Greater self-awareness

A clearer understanding of your reactions, emotions,
relationships and recurring patterns.

03

### Improved coping skills

More constructive ways to respond to stress, conflict,
anger and emotional pressure.

04

### Healthier communication

More confidence speaking honestly, listening carefully and
remaining present in difficult conversations.

05

### Connection and support

An opportunity to build supportive connections with men
who understand similar experiences.

06

### Personal growth

Greater clarity about how you want to live, relate and move
forward.

The approach

## Group work grounded in Genuine Relating

Ian’s approach is based on the understanding that people are
shaped through relationship and that meaningful change often
begins when we experience ourselves as genuinely heard and
received.

Genuine Relating is not about fixing people or reducing them to
a problem. It is a collaborative process built around presence,
curiosity, honest dialogue and careful attention to what is
happening in the present moment.

A men’s group can create another form of this relational space:
a place where defensiveness can soften, different perspectives
can emerge and men can practise meeting themselves and others
more openly.
